We seem to be celebrating birthdays every day at the moment, whether its for children, or your friends and family. In order to beat the stress and gifting conundrum STORCX is here to provide our top tips on money-pooling for the perfect present:-
- 1. KNOW YOUR RECIPIENTSo you have a big birthday for a friend coming up. You cant think what to get her that is worthy of her friendship, your love and that you know she wants that you can afford – lets face it she probably has everything… What do you do?! You need to collaborate with the other people who are thinking exactly the same thing. Share the problem by discussing and clubbing together with mutual friends to give her something special that you know she would really like. Do your research, is it jewelry, a handbag? A new china set? Surely she would rather have one meaningful thing that she craves rather than lots of little things that will clutter up her house!2. KNOW YOUR GUESTS PRICE BRACKETOnce you have figured out what that one special item is and how much it costs, you need to remember to be sensitive to everyone’s price bracket. Not everyone can afford the same contribution amount, or may not be quite as close to the recipient as others, so when you are suggesting a contribution amount put a spread £50-£100 or as much or say ‘as little as you would like’. Remember this is not about celebrating how much you put into the pot but what the end tally is for the gift & birthday girl or guy. It doesn’t matter who has spent what!
3. THOUGHT TO THE MESSAGE
When writing to your guests to contribute don’t forget to explain why it is important to be part of the group gift – this not only saves them time, worry, and mundane tasks like wrapping, but ultimately the birthday girl will be getting something very special from ALL her friends. It’s a win win situation.
4. INCLUDE IMAGES AND LINK
It is important for your gifting recipients to know exactly what they are contributing to. Don’t forget to upload an image of the end gift and a link to its URL. People will be more willing to contribute if they know what it is.
We all know life gets busy and things can easily be forgotten or mislaid. Remember to set your contribution reminders at well-spaced intervals, so it allows your guests time to contribute.
6. MONEY-POT TALLY
Once the event is closed and contributions are in, don’t forget to message all contributors to thank them, let them know the total amount raised and when you will be purchasing the gift. Also give them the opportunity to sign the card before handing over the gift to the lucky recipient!
Each of the 8 co-founders of The Lady Garden Foundation, are all committed to helping save the lives of women diagnosed with gynaecological cancer, having been affected by the diseases in one way or another. Since we started the charity in 2014, The Lady Garden Foundation has raised over £1million to fund groundbreaking research into the treatment of the five gynaecological cancers (vaginal, Vulval, Cervical, Ovarian and Womb) at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. The Royal Marsden is the oldest cancer hospital in the world and one of the largest cancer centres in Europe, with a truly global impact. Today, and every day, 58 women in the UK will receive the life changing news of a gynaecological cancer diagnosis. Pioneering medical research can drastically reduce these diagnoses and devastating outcomes.
By changing the way we talk about female health, we can save lives. Together we can make these cancers #silentnomore.
